I love a good burger, In fact, eight times out of 10, I’m known to order one during lunches out. But, sometimes, I’m just not feelin’ the bun – not because I’m afraid of carbs (never met a carb I didn’t like), but because I just have different cravings on different days, and bread isn’t really my big weakness. I’m picky about bread. So when I make burgers at home for the hubs and the boys, I usually leave off the bun for myself and do some kind of fun burger bowl. The one is a particular fave. Taste just like chicken Parmesan, but without all the fuss and the breading.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Makes 1 Bowl
- 2 Turkey with Sweet Onion Bubba Burger patties
- A few handfuls of chopped lettuce
- 1/4 Cup marinara sauce
- 2 Slices buffalo mozzarella cheese
- 2 Tbsp. pesto, plus extra for drizzling
Directions:
- In a cast-iron skillet over medium heat or on the grill, cook the turkey burgers for 5 to 7 minutes on one side, then flip and top each patty with marinara and a slice of cheese. Cook another 5 to 7 minutes, until fully cooked and cheese is melted.
- Toss lettuce with pesto, then top with the patties, and drizzle with more pesto to serve.
